Deputy Executive Director for Training and Technical Assistance,
National Disability Rights Network (NDRN)
A significant part of my job is to be a mentor and a coach within the P&A system to emerging, mid-level and senior leaders to assist them in understanding their strengths and challenges while developing methods of how to build their leadership and advocacy skills and the impact of their organization. I find this to be a very rewarding part of my work and look forward to working with the Leadership Academy graduates.
I have been one of the primary drivers in the P&A system to integrate our values, philosophy and mission throughout our work so that individuals with disabilities are free to exercise their civil, legal and human rights. One important value of the P&As is to be leaders in their state, as we strive to be on the national level, to serve individuals with full range of disabilities as well as across all racial, ethnic and cultural communities. My approach to mentoring is to work with individuals to understand their goals and how best they can achieve them.
