OPWDD wants to engage the network of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) service providers in a process to define cultural and linguistic competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion and what they mean for the developmental disabilities system in New York State.

Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) will host eleven virtual forums across the five geographic areas covered by OPWDD’s Regional Offices. The Provider Forums are designed to:

  1. assess the extent to which service providers have existing policies, practices, and resources for cultural and linguistic competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion; and
  2. elicit input on the successes and challenges of implementing policies and practices that support cultural competence, linguistic competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion within their respective organizations.
